Characterized by its erect growth habit and creeping underground rhizomes, this tropical plant boasts large leaves that can reach up to 75 cms to 1 meter in length. Its ease of cultivation makes it an ideal addition to any garden, capable of producing hundreds of new plants from a single rhizome within a short period.
For optimal growth, plant small turmeric rhizomes or pieces about 2 inches deep, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Once the plants reach at least 2 inches in height, transplant them if necessary, maintaining a spacing of approximately 16 inches to allow for adequate air circulation.
To promote healthy growth and prevent overcrowding, space turmeric plants about 16 inches apart after they have reached a height of at least 2 inches. This will give the plants ample room to breathe and thrive. Regular watering and minimal care are all that's required for these resilient plants.
